The Fisher Space Pen is part of the story of America's space exploration. When man started to fly in space, Paul C. Fisher, an innovative designer of pens, realized that they would need a pen that would work in the vacuum of space. They needed a pen that was sealed and pressurized.

The result was the Fisher Space pen, a pen that can write at temperatures ranging from minus fifty to four hundred degrees Fahrenheit. The nitrogen pressurized cartridge allows it to write in any position. It can write under water or over grease. The pen uses a unique thixotropic ink that remains in a semi-solid state until the action of writing causes the roller ball to liquefy it.

Because of the pressurized cartridge design and the high precision manufacturing tolerances of the ball point and socket, this pen has an estimated one hundred year shelf life. After months of rigorous testing, NASA adopted the Fisher pen for use in all of its manned space missions. In 1968 the Fisher AG-7 was used on the Apollo 7 Space Mission and has been used in both American and Russian space flights ever since.
